Dr. Weiner earned his Ph.D. from Temple University in 1982. After spending a few years working in public and private school settings he became licensed by the Virginia Board of Medicine as a Clinical Psychologist, and a Licensed School Psychologist through the Virginia Board of Psychology. “For many years my practice consisted of providing counseling and testing. My base of cognitive-behavior therapy and family therapy was added to over the years with various adjunctive approaches (e.g. solution focused therapy, EMDR, hypnosis). I have had a long term interest in attention and learning problems. As the research demonstrating the effectiveness of neurofeedback for ADD/ADHD became clearer, I decided that it was important to add this service to my practice. Over time, and with my increased experience and development of the field, I found that this approach was helpful for a broad variety of difficulties.”
Dr. Weiner’s initial neurofeedback training was with Dr. Joel Lubar in 1999. He feels fortunate to have been taught by many of the leading clinicians in the field (e.g. Othmers, Thompsons, Gunkelman, Lunt, Thatcher, Monastra, deBeus, Hamlin, Ochs). Dr. Weiner passed the examination of the Neurotherapy and Biofeedback Certification Board in 2000. He was certified in EEG Biofeedback by the Biofeedback Certification Institute of America (BCIA) in 2002. Since 2006, he has enjoyed mentoring other clinicians toward BCIA certification in individual and small group settings. Dr. Weiner is a member of the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research.
